Natalia Szejko is a neurologist and child and adolescent psychiatry trainee working in the Department of Child Psychiatry, Babinski Hospital, Lodz, Poland. She also holds a senior research position at the Department of Health Sociology, Education and Medical Communication, Institute of Mother and Child, Warsaw, Poland. Apart from her involvement in ESSTS, she is engaged in a number of leadership positions in the leading Scientific Societies in the world: she is the  Co-Chair of the Sex and Gender Special Interest Group of the International Functional Neurological Disorders Society, the Chair of the Treatment Subgroup in the Pediatric Special Interest Group of the Functional Neurological Disorders Society, E-learning Laison, Guideline Representative and the Member of the Management Panel in  Scientific Panel on Child Neurology, European Academy of Neurology, E-learning Laison and Member of the Management Group of the Functional Neurological Disorders’ Panel of the European Academy of Neurology, the Steering Committee Member of the Functional Movement Disorders Group, Movement Disorders’ Society as well as Chair of the Scientific Communication Panel of the Patients' Organization Tics and Tourette Around the Globe.

Her main focuses of clinical and scientific interest are tics, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS), functional neurological disorders and neuropsychiatry in children and adults. She graduated from Medical University of Warsaw where she also completed her ScD dedicated to clinical phenomenology of tics in Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS). She has been awarded a number of scholarships and prizes that enabled international collaboration with the Clinic of Psychiatry and Social psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany; Department of Neurology, Ramon and Cajal Hospital, Madrid, Spain; Department of Neurology, Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria; Child Study Center and Department of Neurology at the Yale University, USA and Institute of Psychiatry in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has also been working as a Postdoctoral Associate in Department of Neurology, Yale School of Medicine, USA in years 2020-2021. She was awarded Clinical and Research Scholarship of the American Academy of Neurology, American Brain Foundation and the Tourette Association of America and completed a 2-year tic disorder fellowship in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary, Canada. 

She is co-author of more than 100 publications, mainly about tics and GTS. For her research work she received the following awards: Prof. Mary Roberstson Award of ESSTS for the Best Young Scholars in Tic Disorders, Scholarship for the Best Young Scientists by the Polish Ministry of Health, Award of the Board of the Polish Neurological Society, Adam Rojszczak Scientific Award by Foundation for Polish Science, Scientific Award by Journal “Polityka”, Research Fellowship by the Kosciuszko Foundation, Clinical Fellowship by European Academy of Neurology and Joint Fellowship by European Huntington’s Disease Network and Movement Disorders Society.
