Natalia Szejko is a Clinical and Research Fellow in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences, University of Calgary, Canada. She is also a neurologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioethics at the Medical University of Warsaw, Poland. Her main focuses of clinical and scientific interest are tics, Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS), movement disorders and neuropsychiatry. She graduated from Medical University of Warsaw where she also completed her ScD dedicated to clinical phenomenology of tics in Gilles de la Tourette syndrome (GTS). She is also finishing her residency in Neurology in Department of Neurology, Medical University of Warsaw. In parallel, she also has graduated from the University of Warsaw, where she was granted B.A., M.A. and PhD in Spanish Philology. She has been awarded a number of scholarships and prizes that enabled international collaboration with the Clinic of Psychiatry and Social psychiatry and Psychotherapy, Hannover Medical School, Hannover, Germany; Department of Neurology, Ramon and Cajal Hospital, Madrid, Spain; Department of Neurology, Medical University of Innsbruck, Austria; Child Study Center and Department of Neurology at the Yale University, USA and Institute of Psychiatry in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She has also been working as a Postdoctoral Associate in Department of Neurology, Yale School of Medicine, USA in years 2020-2021. She is co-author of more than 30 publications about tics and GTS. She received the following awards: nomination for Adam Rojszczak Scientific Award by Foundation for Polish Science, Scientific Award by Journal “Polityka”, Research Fellowship by the Kosciuszko Foundation, Clinical Fellowship by European Academy of Neurology and Joint Fellowship by European Huntington’s Disease Network and Movement Disorders Society.
