Dear friends, colleagues, conference attendees,
Following our recent communication about the hybrid format for Ljubljana 2026, we would like to update you on our final decision.
The 18th International Conference on Tourette Syndrome & Tic Disorders will proceed as an in-person-only event.
Our decision
When we introduced the hybrid format in Athens 2025, we hoped to expand accessibility for colleagues unable to travel. Although the registration numbers —18— were...mildly encouraging, we committed to trying again in Ljubljana, and we're grateful to those who registered virtually and to everyone who provided feedback.
Despite our efforts and outreach, virtual registrations remain at 4 attendees. The preparation, technical resources, and dedicated personnel required for quality live-streaming represent a significant investment that we cannot justify at this participation level. As responsible stewards of the Society's resources, we must make pragmatic decisions that serve our community effectively.
What this means for registered virtual attendees
If you registered for virtual attendance, you will receive a full refund processed within 72 hours from this announcement. A member of the organisers/host team will contact you directly with details.
We recognise this may be disappointing, and we appreciate your understanding. If circumstances change and in-person attendance becomes possible, we would be delighted to welcome you in Ljubljana. Please contact us at meetings@essts.org to discuss registration options.
Recorded content available post-conference
While we cannot offer live-streaming, select keynote lectures and symposia will be recorded and made available online approximately 2 weeks after the conference concludes.
As last year in Athens, access will be provided to:
- All ESSTS members with active 2026 membership
- All registered conference attendees (in-person)
Recordings will remain available for a limited period (~3 months). Specific sessions and access details will be announced closer to the conference date.
Events remaining hybrid
The three events below will maintain their hybrid format regardless of the main conference decision:
Monday, 16 June — Teachers' event (in Slovene): "Tics & Tourette Syndrome at School" — FREE, hybrid seminar for educators
Tuesday, 17 June — TS-School: Our signature clinical training event covering assessment, comorbidities, and treatment approaches
Wednesday, 18 June — TTAG Annual Meeting: The annual meeting of patient associations and advocacy groups under the umbrella organisation, Tics and Tourette Across the Globe
This decision allows us to focus our resources on delivering quality in-person experience in Ljubljana. We continue to explore sustainable ways to expand access to ESSTS content throughout the year through our webinars, podcasts, online TS-School editions, BT consultations for clinicians and other educational initiatives.
We look forward to welcoming you in Ljubljana for three days of outstanding science, clinical innovation, and the meaningful connections that make our conferences truly special!
