The 18th International Conference on Tourette Syndrome and Tic Disorders was held in Ljubljana on 17–19 June 2026.
Ahead of the conference, and in the footsteps of our Athens 2025 and Varese 2024 hosts (grazie @Cristiano Termine!), our visit to Slovenia allowed us to organise a separate event –in Slovene–, a hybrid seminar aimed at teachers, educators and other professionals working in schools: »Tiki in Tourettov sindrom v šoli«
The seminar took place on Monday, 15 June 2026, at the Pediatric Clinic, UKC Ljubljana.
We welcomed a little under 100 in-person attendees at the Pediatric Clinic and almost 200 virtual participants joining from all around Slovenia.
We owe a heartfelt thank you to our Slovenian colleagues and conference hosts, Dr Jana Kodrič, Dr Jasna Oražem Mrak, Dr Staša Stropnik and Dr Melita Bokalič, for accepting our invitation and for offering their time and expertise in making this training initiative happen.
You will find their presentations below, along with the full recording of the seminar and a selection of photos from the day. In order of appearance on the seminar programme:
- Klinične značilnosti tikov in Tourettovega sindroma ter njihovo zdravljenje
- Pridružene nevrorazvojne motnje in njihovo zdravljenje
- Psihološke značilnosti in podpora učencem s tiki v šoli
Certificates of attendance
Printed copies were made available for in-person attendees at the end of the seminar.
Virtual participants who attended at least 2/3 of the seminar also received a certificate of virtual attendance via email.
We hope that this initiative will contribute to raising awareness of Tourette syndrome and tic disorders among teachers and school staff, and that it will support the wider effort of equipping schools to better accompany students who live with tics.
Thank you everyone for attending, we wish you all the best with your endeavours!
