Behavioural Treatment for Tics is the recommended intervention for children and adults presenting with tic disorders and Tourette Syndrome (TS).
As there is a recognised shortage of clinicians trained to deliver this evidence-based treatment, ESSTS has developed a two-day training programme for healthcare professionals. Participants will gain the clinical skills required to deliver Behavioural Treatment for Tics, along with access to key resources to support implementation in practice.
Training overview:
- A two-day course designed for professionals across disciplines including Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Neurology.
- Most suitable for clinicians with prior training and experience in delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and behavioural interventions with children.
- Covers the use of gold-standard assessment measures, along with theoretical and practical training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT).
- Includes high-quality training videos and clinical demonstrations with adults, adolescents and children with tics, as well as resources for use following the course.
- After the two day training is complete, attendees will have the opportunity to attend online group consultation sessions, where they can present cases for discussion and receive guidance on refining treatment delivery. These sessions should be completed within six months of the training.
- A certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the course.
Who should attend:
Healthcare professionals from disciplines such as Psychology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, and Neurology. The course is best suited to those with existing training and experience in delivering cognitive behavioural therapy with children, adolescents and adults.
Delivery:
The training will be delivered remotely by experienced psychologists. The package includes 12 hours of training over two days, copies of the slides used in the training and post-course consultation support.
Fees:
The training fee is €400 per participant to be paid in advance of the training date at the time of registration.
The date for the training is planned for early 2027 and will depend on a minimum number of attendees signing up.
